Editorial Policy

Last updated: May 2026

Dropt Beer is an independent editorial publication covering beer, wine, spirits, cocktails, and beverage culture. Our mission is to produce accurate, in-depth, and genuinely useful content for drinkers at every level — from the curious beginner to the seasoned connoisseur. This page sets out the standards we hold ourselves to.

Independence

Dropt Beer operates independently. Our editorial decisions — what we cover, how we rate products, which stories we pursue — are made by our editorial team without influence from advertisers, brands, sponsors, or commercial partners. Advertising revenue funds our operations but has no bearing on our coverage or scores.

Expertise and Author Standards

Every article published on Dropt Beer is written or reviewed by a contributor with demonstrable expertise in their subject area. Our contributors include certified sommeliers, WSET-qualified wine educators, Cicerone-certified beer judges, trained mixologists, and working beverage industry professionals. Author credentials and affiliations are disclosed on each author profile page.

We do not publish anonymous content. Every piece carries a named author who stands behind the work.

Fact-Checking and Accuracy

Claims of fact — alcohol content, production methods, geographic designations, vintage information, regulatory classifications — are verified against primary sources before publication. These include producer documentation, official appellation bodies, regulatory filings, and peer-reviewed research where relevant.

Tasting notes and scores represent the honest opinion of the named reviewer at the time of tasting. Palates differ; we acknowledge subjectivity and encourage readers to use our notes as a guide rather than a verdict.

Reviews and Ratings

Products reviewed on Dropt Beer are assessed blind wherever practicable, or with full transparency about how samples were sourced. We note in every review whether a sample was:

  • Purchased independently at retail
  • Provided as a press sample by the producer or distributor
  • Tasted at a trade or consumer event

Receiving a sample does not guarantee coverage, and it does not guarantee a positive review. We decline samples from brands that request editorial control or approval rights over copy.

Corrections Policy

We correct errors promptly and transparently. If we publish factual inaccuracies, we update the article and append a correction note at the bottom stating what was changed and when. We do not silently delete or alter content to hide mistakes.

To report an error, contact us at editorial@dropt.beer with the article URL and a description of the issue.

Affiliate Links and Commercial Relationships

Some articles on Dropt Beer include affiliate links to retailers. If you purchase a product through one of these links, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Affiliate relationships do not influence which products we recommend or how we assess them. Affiliate links are always disclosed at the top of relevant articles.

AI-Assisted Content

Dropt Beer uses AI tools to assist with research, drafting, and editing. All AI-assisted content is reviewed, fact-checked, and edited by a named human expert before publication. We do not publish unreviewed AI output. The named author on every article takes editorial responsibility for its accuracy and quality.

Responsible Drinking

We celebrate alcohol culture while taking our responsibility seriously. Our content is intended for adults of legal drinking age. We do not glamorise excessive consumption, drink-driving, or irresponsible behaviour. Where relevant, we include reminders to drink in moderation and signpost support resources.

Complaints

If you have a concern about any content published on Dropt Beer — accuracy, fairness, conflicts of interest, or editorial standards — please contact our editorial team at editorial@dropt.beer. We aim to respond within five working days.
